Wetland Center
The John Bunker Sands Wetland Center celebrated Community Awareness Day on Saturday, October 9th as part of a three day grand opening event of the Center. Over 450 visitors from numerous cities and communities in the Kaufman and Dallas county area came out to get a sneak peek of this unique nature center. Visitors got a chance to explore many aspects of the Wetland Center. They hiked the extensive boardwalk observing numerous species of birds and wildlife, particated in hands on education activities and attended a program with live Raptors of North Texas presented by the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center. Most visitors came out to enjoy the peace and serenity with a quiet stroll along the wetland or a moment rocking in the chairs on the back deck.
